Learn About Vector 4Seasons Used Tires

Here’s an all-season radial that is unusually capable. The Goodyear Vector 4Seasons is better than the average all-season tire in accumulated snow and on ice, and it’s better on dry and wet roads, too. One look at the tire tells you why. It has big blocks and grooves like those on winter tires, plus lots of sipes for bite on wintry and wet roads. Its directional tread also puts down lots of rubber for dry-road grip. Tires in this line, depending on size, are rated T for speeds up to 118 miles per hour; H, up to 130, or V, up to 149. Size 165/70R14, which is a commercial truck tire, is rated R, up to 106 mph. Passenger car sizes are available in 13 through 17 inches.

The tread has five ribs. The central rib, which is continuous, contributes good response. It has zigzag sipes for all-weather bite along its length. Adjacent ribs begin a "V" pattern, running from the central rib to diagonal grooves that separate off the shoulder blocks. Smaller diagonal grooves partition the blocks in these adjacent ribs. The sipes close to the central rib are zigzag, and straight nearer the shoulders. The "V" grooves continue through the shoulders, where they become more lateral, forming wide, multi-sided blocks that are multi-directionally siped. The "V" grooves push slush and water to the sides of the tire to discourage hydroplaning.

  • Vehicles - Passenger cars; commercial trucks
  • Seasons - All-season, plus severe snow
  • Best uses - Year-round driving, plus deep snow
  • Strength - Bridging between blocks in shoulders, adjacent ribs
  • Highway safety - Rated to 118, 130 or 149 mph; good hydroplaning resistance
