Attention! Due to the size of the tires, Packages might be SEPARATED in the courier facility and not be DELIVERED on the SAME DAY, even though we do ship them together. Tracking information can be checked by logging on to the courier website with the master tracking number you will receive via email. For example, you can receive 3 tires in one day and the 4th one the next day or the day after, or one tire in one day and the second one day after. We understand that this is a big inconvenience for our buyers, however, this is ABSOLUTELY out of our control.

Kumho Spare T131

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

  • Compact spare tire
  • All season traction
  • Optimized handling

OVERVIEW

The Kumho Spare T131 is a touring, all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles.

This is a compact spare tire. In other words, it is a smaller tire used as a replacement tire. Due to its smaller physical shape, it takes up less space in the vehicle's trunk, making it space-efficient. However, the smaller size and lightweight construction put performing restrictions on the tire. It must be inflated at 60 psi throughout its performance, and even then, it cannot be driven faster than 50 mph. Due to this, this compact spare tire does not offer the same performance as a full-sized tire would. Yet it enables a short drive, so the vehicle and its passengers will not be stranded on the side of the road.

The symmetric tread design and all season compound significantly enhance exceptional all season traction. This is achieved with road grip provided in dry, wet, and light winter conditions. As a result, the sipe and groove placement increases the grip on the road surface by providing the necessary biting edges. The compound keeps the rubber flexibility at various temperatures. Some hydroplaning resistance is offered, but careful driving in wet conditions is still encouraged. Furthermore, the tire will not provide good traction in harsh winter situations.

The Spare T131 offers good controllability. The continuous center rib ensures the tire's consistent surface contact, which boosts steering responsiveness and driving stability. However, due to its lightweight structure, the tire is unable to offer more than the necessary performance. Its smaller size makes it adequate for short-term use, but anything more than that is above its capabilities.

This is a bias ply or diagonal tire. Due to the tire's internal construction and size, it is possible that the tire will look deformed. Smaller diagonal tires do not have reinforced constructions that can keep the tire from deforming. The bias construction and the small tire's non-reinforced internal structure allow the tire to fold in when it is deflated or not properly inflated. This is not constructional damage or an issue; it is a normal occurrence with such tires. In such cases, the tire needs to be mounted and inflated to the proper PSI or, in some instances, an inner tube needs to be added. The proper PSI and the inner tube are able to maintain the tire's ideal shape, preventing the bias plies from looking deformed. This ensures their performing safety and durability.

The photo is a representation of the tire's possible deformation, it does not represent the specific tire model, size, tread pattern and application.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please note this is Original Equipment (O.E.) tire size only. The O.E. size is determined by the year, make, model and options of the vehicle. Original Equipment size data is the best information we currently have available to us. TireMart.com is not responsible for fitment errors. The most important aspect of purchasing a tire is its size, which cannot vary. It is buyer's responsibility to verify the tire size information. It is buyer's responsibility to verify whether a specific tire is suitable for a specific vehicle. However, this tire size may be fitted on other vehicles as well. To ensure that you are purchasing the correct tire size for your vehicle, please check the size of your currently mounted tires (locate on the tire's sidewall). The tire's sidewall also features the speed and load rating, indicating the speed and load capacity of the specific tire. The speed and load index can differ from the tires you currently have mounted on your vehicle up to a degree. Please check your vehicle's Owner's Manual or consult with your mechanic regarding the changes of your tire's speed rating and load index. If you have any questions regarding your tire size , speed rating and load index please contact us prior to purchasing and confirm with certified auto technician of any variance in speed and load index and sizes.
