The Continental ExtremeContact DWS is a high performance, all season tire made for passenger vehicles and SUVs. Continental offers a 50,000 mile warranty with new tires. The tire upgrades the dry, wet, and winter weather traction with the high grip compound and the tread design. The silica maintains the rubber flexibility in various temperatures, while the tread elements enhance the year-round gripping ability. The tread's circumferential grooves prevent hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from the footprint.
The tread features Performance Indicators. The letters D (Dry), W (Wet), and S (Snow) are located on the tread area which represents a weather condition. As the tire wears out, these letters disappear. If a letter disappears, the tire loses traction in that weather conditions. For example, if the S wears off the tread, the tire is no longer safe to be used in winter weather situations.
The Continental ExtremeContact DWS improves high speed controllability. The internal reinforced twin steel belt structure enhances the high speed driving durability as it maintains the ideal tire shape under the high speed driving pressure affecting the model. In this manner, the tire is able to perform at its best high speed capability. The tread design's shoulder block pattern and continuous center rib keep the road contact and enhance the steering responsiveness and driving stability during the performance. The cornering ability is also enhanced with the shoulder tread block pattern. This design increases the number of biting edges and ensures a secure maneuvering capability.
